Before a wedding in Dubai: when to book each treatment

8 min read

The short answer

Work back from the date. Laser hair removal usually starts six months to a year ahead; light and laser courses, skin firming and collagen-stimulating injections three months or more ahead; a first time with filler one to two months ahead; and anti-wrinkle injections at least two weeks before. The bridal facial goes in the final week: a HydraFacial three to seven days before, or Dermadrop a day or two before, if you have had no injections in the area and no other invasive aesthetic treatment, such as microneedling, in the last five months. In the last two weeks, try nothing new, keep treated skin out of the Dubai sun, and test your facial about a month ahead.

Pre-wedding skin care and treatments: how long before the wedding to start

  • Six months to a year ahead: laser hair removal, usually six to eight sessions, four to eight weeks apart.
  • Three months or more ahead: light and laser courses for spots, redness or texture (BBL HEROic, Sylfirm X, MOXI), skin firming with Ultraformer MPT or Volnewmer, collagen-stimulating injections and a course of skin boosters.
  • About two months ahead: a body course, Endosphères usually twice a week or icoone two to three times a week at first.
  • One to two months ahead: a first time with filler, and a test run of the facial you plan for the final week.
  • Two weeks to a month ahead: anti-wrinkle injections, the last BBL HEROic or MOXI session (about two weeks before) and the last laser hair removal session (at least three weeks before).
  • The final week: a HydraFacial three to seven days before, LED light a few days before, or Dermadrop a day or two before if nothing invasive is in your plan.

Each treatment needs time to settle and time to show, so whatever builds slowly starts first and the gentlest come last. These windows are typical, not fixed: the plan is set at the consultation, around your skin and health.

What is a bridal facial, and is it for men too?

“Bridal facial” isn't a medical term or one fixed treatment: it is a facial timed before a wedding, usually for a glow, meaning skin that looks clean, fresh and hydrated on the day. Here, that usually means a HydraFacial, which cleanses, extracts and hydrates, or Dermadrop, a needle-free mist of actives on a stream of oxygen, with Heleo4 LED light for reactive skin. We suggest the one your skin needs, not all three.

It is for anyone with a big day, men and women alike, with the same treatments and timings. If your plan includes BBL HEROic and you have a beard you want to keep, tell us, as broadband light can reduce hair growth.

Which facial suits dry, oily or sensitive skin

A HydraFacial isn't an alternative to a bridal facial: it is one of the facials we use as one, chosen by your skin. Oily or congested skin, with blackheads or dullness, usually suits a HydraFacial, which lifts oil and debris out of the pores. Dry or dehydrated skin usually suits Dermadrop with a hydrating ampoule, or a HydraFacial with hydrating serums.

Sensitive skin often does better with Dermadrop: no needles, suction or scrubbing, though a serum can still irritate. For reactive or breakout-prone skin, a course of Heleo4 LED light alongside your skincare can help calm it, though the evidence for acne is mixed. Deep, cystic acne needs a doctor's assessment first, months before the date.

When to book a bridal facial: how many days before the wedding

Three to seven days before for a HydraFacial, and a day or two before for Dermadrop. After a HydraFacial, make-up is best skipped for the rest of the day, so it doesn't belong on the morning itself. Before an event we keep the suction gentle, as stronger suction can leave redness for two to five days.

After Dermadrop, make-up can go on straight away. It isn't used over filler or anti-wrinkle injections in the area, or within five months of another invasive aesthetic treatment, so if your plan includes injectables, we choose the facial around them.

We don't publish prices: the cost depends on the treatment, the boosters or ampoule your skin needs and how many sessions you have, set together at the consultation, so you know the full plan and its cost before you start.

Will a facial give me a glow, or make my skin red?

It usually leaves skin looking cleaner, fresher and better hydrated: in a small imaging study, hydradermabrasion, the technique a HydraFacial uses, left the outer layer of the skin smoother. It won't lift, firm or clear pigment; that takes treatments started months ahead.

Redness is usually brief. After a HydraFacial, some people look pink for an hour or so, and stinging or tingling is common; after Dermadrop, the skin can look slightly pink for a short while. Less often, a serum ingredient causes itching, redness or a rash: skincare ingredients are a common cause of allergic reactions on the face. In a small study of HydraFacial for acne, redness, stinging and tingling were most frequent after the first treatment, one reason for a test run. On medium and deeper skin tones, blue LED light can leave lasting darker patches, so on pigment-prone skin we lean on the other colours.

Laser and light before a wedding, and the Dubai sun

As a course started months ahead, it can be; as a first try in the last week, no. MOXI, a gentle resurfacing laser, leaves a bronzed, sandpaper-like texture from day two or three that usually sheds by day five to seven: two to four sessions a few weeks apart, the last at least a week, ideally two, before the day. BBL HEROic, broadband light for spots and redness, usually takes three to five sessions three to four weeks apart; treated spots darken, then flake away over five to ten days, so leave about two weeks after the last. Sylfirm X, radiofrequency microneedling, usually takes three to five sessions about four weeks apart, with the fuller result at eight to twelve weeks, so it is one to start early.

After BBL HEROic, treated skin stays out of direct sun for two weeks; after MOXI, a month of hats or covering clothes outdoors; and a fresh tan means a session waits. Dubai's sun is weakest from November to February but strong enough to need protection all year, so plan around a beach weekend or desert trip before the date, or a honeymoon in the sun straight after. Deeper skin tones mark more easily after irritation, one more reason to finish these courses early.

Anti-wrinkle injections, fillers and skin firming: how long before the wedding

Anti-wrinkle injections take about two weeks to work fully, and minor bruising or swelling can follow, so book them at least two weeks before; a month leaves room for a small adjustment. For a first time with hyaluronic-acid filler, one to two months ahead: swelling usually goes down within a week, and a bruise can deepen over three days and is kept out of the sun until it fades. Less often, anti-wrinkle injections leave a brow or eyelid temporarily lower, and rarely, filler blocks a blood vessel, which needs treatment straight away.

Biostimulators build collagen over two to three months and skin boosters come as a short course of two or three sessions, so both start three months or more ahead. So does firming with Ultraformer MPT (focused ultrasound) or Volnewmer (radiofrequency), which usually shows fully at two to three months; most people need one session.

Focused ultrasound and radiofrequency are spaced from recent injections in the same area, so a doctor sets the order and the dates; for injectables, that is Dr. Olga Ibrakova or Dr. Daria Banina, whose focus is lips and facial contouring.

Facial hair removal before a wedding: when to start laser

Start six months to a year ahead. Hair grows in cycles, so laser hair removal with excel HR usually takes six to eight sessions, four to six weeks apart on the face and six to eight on the body. Reduction usually shows after two or three, so a course that is part-way through by the date can still help.

Have the last session at least three weeks before, so the treated hairs have shed. Shave between sessions if you need to, but don't wax or pluck, and keep self-tan off treated skin. Strict sun protection for four weeks before and after each session means timing the last one around a sunny honeymoon too.

On the face and neck, laser can occasionally stimulate more hair instead of less; its maker notes this is most likely in women of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or South Asian heritage, and adjusting the settings helps prevent it. On a beard line, decide the shape first, because the reduction is long-term.

Body, sleep and stress in the weeks before

Endosphères, for water retention, heavy legs and cellulite, is typically 12 to 15 sessions twice a week, or 6 to 10 for drainage, and icoone 10 to 15. Puffiness often improves early, while change in the appearance of cellulite builds over the course, so start about two months ahead.

The Iyashi Dôme (far-infrared warmth) and cryotherapy (brief, dry cold) are for comfort and recovery in busy weeks; better sleep and a calmer week are often why people come, though we can't promise them. As a heat session, the dome is kept apart from Ultraformer MPT and Volnewmer, which ask for a week or two away from saunas.

The final two weeks: nothing new, and a test run first

In the last two weeks, have only what your skin already knows. A first treatment, or a new peel or active at home, can irritate, and this is not the time to squeeze a course together: the gaps between sessions are part of the treatment.

So test the facial you plan for the final week once, about a month ahead: if your skin takes it well, the same treatment goes in the final week; if not, there is time to change the plan.

Tell us early about anything medical. Pregnancy or breastfeeding means most of these treatments wait. A flare of acne or eczema, a rash or a cold sore is treated or allowed to settle first, and deep acne or a stubborn rash can mean seeing a dermatologist. A new medicine, such as isotretinoin, a blood thinner or one that makes skin sensitive to light, changes what can be done, and when.

The CREAMÉ view

We would rather start early and do less than squeeze a plan into the last fortnight, and leave a treatment until after the wedding rather than risk the skin you'll be photographed in. Tell us the date and what you'd like to change, and we'll plan back from it.
